Sapphire Moon Gathering

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

The week of July 28-August 5, Sapphire Moon staff members will be gathering to consecrate our new offices in Columbus, celebrate the full moon & August Eve and brainstorm new ideas to make Sapphire Moon shine even brighter.

We hope to come out of this informal business meeting with fresh, innovative ideas that will help us continue our commitment in service to the neo-pagan community.

Look for updates on our plans and new features in the coming weeks and months.

BoL - Newest Additions

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

Getting back to work not only feels great (I’m always happiest when doing something constructive), it means new content for readers of the Book of Light.

While reading for pleasure, I came across an explanation of the Maya calendar round. Confusing to most modern people, this complicated systems of time keeping is extremely accurate and fascinating to learn about hence the new essay in Chapter XVII :: Wheel of the Year entitled Maya Calendar Round Explained. The book the article is excerpted from is, in itself, a fascinating read covering all manner of ancient mysteries with an objective approach. The book is Ancient Mysteries by Peter Jame and Nick Thorpe and if you get your hands on a copy, I guarantee you’ll be enchanted for hours.

I also finally finished the Hawthorn essay for the Sacred Woods section of Chapter VIII :: Herbal. Taken from Version 2 of the Rede of the Wiccae, these 10 sacred woods are enthralling to learn about. It is much more satisfying for me to see the practical reasoning behind the magical uses than it is to simply accept that a certain tree means wisdom or protection, etc. To navigate easily to additional information about each Sacred Wood, links to the extended essays have been placed in the Rede of the Wiccae.

I hope you enjoy the new additions and new projects are already in the works.

Back on the Attack

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

First, I’d like to say a sincere thank you to all of you who are voting for the Book of Light and WebWeaver over at the Pagan Guild top 100. Both sites are consistently ranked in the top 10! What a great feeling that the sites are appreciated, thank you so much.

I’ve been slacking on work for the sites recently because I got involved in a project that was not my own. That has been shelved and I’m back on the attack.

We are looking at September for the release of the new and highly improved version of WebWeaver. Despite my slacking, everyone else managed to stay on target and I thank them so much for picking up the slack so that we can get this giant upgrade released on time.

New information for the Book of Light has also suffered due to my lack of attention, but I’m writing and researching again and new ideas for what to include and update are coming fast and furious now that I have re-focused efforts on our own site once again.

Over at Helikas We are now offering dedicated IP addresses on an as needed basis for our clients who require SSL certificates or just want a dedicated IP. We looked into offering SSL certificates as well, but with us as the middle man pricing would be higher and we aren’t here to rook our clients. Instead, we recommend GoDaddy for SSL purchasing and we’ll set up your dedicated IP address for you. Our price for a dedicated IP is $48; no set up fee, no hidden processing fee. Contact support directly to have your dedicated IP request processed.

Activ8 August issue is in the works and shaping up nicely.
